A Military-Friendly Place to Call Home

Why Arkansas?

Arkansas profoundly values the contribution veterans and transitioning service members make to their communities. Home Base Arkansas strives to guide members to the range of benefits and resources the state of Arkansas has to support members and their families in their relocation and integration into the Natural State. With one of the lowest costs of living, outdoor adventures, and welcoming communities, Arkansas is an ideal place for veterans and their families to settle.

Life in the Natural State

Arkansas is the best kept secret and the best place to call home in the United States. The combination of cost of living, location and climate, arts and entertainment, and outdoor recreation make Arkansas a unique and desirable place to call home.

Location and Climate

Arkansas is located in the central, southern region of the United States. We are also midway between Mexico City and Montreal. You can reach 40 percent of the rest of the U.S. population within a day’s drive from Arkansas. Arkansas has a temperate climate that has four distinct seasons. Our average high of 73°F and an average low of 53°F means Arkansans can spend time outdoors year-round.

It’s possible to get anywhere within Arkansas in a day’s drive or less, so you’re never far from artistic and cultural pursuits. From the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, to the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock, to Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs and the Murphy Arts District in El Dorado, there’s something exciting going in in every corner of the state.

Outdoor Recreation

Arkansas is geographically diverse, with the valleys of the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers, mountains, forests, many lakes and rivers, and even bayous. National and State Parks are our playgrounds.
